The Jarritos x Nike SB Dunk Low was first rumored in late September and may have just been unofficially unveiled. The 2023 release would be another seemingly-random alliance for the Swoosh conglomerate, but its recent catering to Latinx consumers provides context. Because of Jarritos’ many flavored drinks, its Nike Dunk was expected to follow suit, but a first glance indicates differently.
This shoe features a nice minimalist style with classic hues
The upper of the Jarritos SB Dunk is made of leather and canvas in various degrees of off-white, with the latter component favoring a beige tone. Profile swooshes stand out in a rich green colour that is inspired by the Mexican beverage company’s trademark jug emblem, which is stamped on the lateral heel. Traditional “Nike SB” emblems on the tongue are fashioned as Jarrito’s logo, adding more green and orange flair to the otherwise neutral sneaker. Finally, the underfoot Peter Moore-designed outsole is dressed in both green and orange as a homage to the extraordinary collaboration between two American titans. While it’s unlikely that the upper of the shoes will reveal a more vibrant color scheme to match the various Jarritos beverage flavors, the roll-out, packaging, and overall campaign for the upcoming SB drop will be memorable, perhaps in the spirit of the brand’s Ben & Jerry’s collaboration from 2020.
The Jarritos x Nike SB Dunk Low isn’t necessarily a standout in terms of performance, but it’s hard to deny that it has a unique look that stands out.The customization in terms of design aesthetics is evidence of the details discovered during the collaboration.
