The rise of the Air Jordan 1 and Nike Dunk, as well as high-profile collaborations, have made the Air Jordan 1 Low one of the most-wanted sneaker silhouettes on the market right now. The lifestyle version of #23’s first signature shoe just came out in a colorway that people call “UNC Grey.”
This shoe may be old, but it’s also stylish and fun
Michael Jordan used to play for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, whose colors have been used in Jumpman shoes before, but the new Air Jordan pair remixes a look from the past. The front of the sneaker looks like traditional “University Blue” retros, but the panels on the tongue and around the heel are a different color, grey. The “Wings” logo on the back and the heavily yellowed midsoles and exposed foam tongues give the shoes an old-fashioned look. The “UNC Grey” look is finished off with a bright college-friendly blue outsole, which is often copied.
Jordan Brand keeps producing iconic Air Jordan 1s, including this “UNC Grey” pair. Michael’s North Carolina days affected the color, but he added fresh touches. This style can be suitable for people who don’t like white shoes or don’t want to clean them.
