The Nike Air Max 97 has been featured in the Beaverton-based brand’s purposeful efforts toward extending their youth sized options as it celebrates its 25th anniversary this month. Faded blue pastels outfit the latest grade school-exclusive attempt, which conducts as many amusing propositions as the Air Jordan 1 Mid’s customary build.

It’s a fresh take on a shoe that’s already been remixed a zillion times
Muted “Blue Whisper” colors wrap the midfoot’s sectioned overlays – save for a single sliver of crisp white – and flow over the mesh tooling of its tongue and layered lace joints, similar to those of its “Polka Dot” counterpart. The two elements are separated by a pair of jet-black stripes, with additional pitch dark contrasts rendered within the sock liner and zebra-like tread underfoot. Following its rarely darkened excursion, brilliant sky blues occupy the background of a namesake yellow Swoosh and translucent Air Max bubble directly beneath, while the latter color is harkenened alongside magenta to clothe the insoles and pull tabs in a diametrically opposed form.

Summary
We can tell right away that this is a sneaker for individuals who like to stand out. The brilliant hues, along with the inventive usage of an unusual Air unit, result in an Air Max 97 that is more entertaining in terms of aesthetics.
