Nike is always, and sometimes blatantly, taking ideas from past releases, like the “Chicago” Air Jordan 1 or the best shoes from the ACG line. This upcoming Air Max 97 fits in with the trend, as it is based on the Air Max 1 “Crepe” from 2004.
This Air Max 97s design looks cool and feels fantastic to wear
This Air Max 97 is made with earth tones, just like the shoe that inspired it. The mudguard is made of dark brown suede, and the mesh and leather parts right above it are in shades of cream and white. The midsole is also the same color as the upper. Instead of the Air Max 1’s crepe sole, the bottom of this shoe has a light gum sole. Also, the blue Swoosh is gone and has been replaced by embroidery with a neutral thread.
Summary
Overall, this is a great addition to the Air Max 97’s earth-toned colorways. A small change to the color of the sole, along with the upper’s rich earth tones and simple details, makes the shoe look like a whole.
