While the criticism is understandable, it’s impossible to argue against story-driven concepts like 2018’s “Rookie of the Year” colorway, which recently debuted on the women’s Air Jordan 1 Elevate.
The classic style comes from influenced details and a color scheme
The original Air Jordan was initially graded in 2018 in the hues “Gold Harvest,” “Black,” and “Sail,” inspired by Michael Jordan’s award-winning debut NBA season. The color palette was inspired by a young Chicago Bulls guard’s dress at the 1985 Rookie of the Year ceremony, with details under the ankle flaps referring to the honor. The newly-surfaced offer may not have the same thematic messaging and data as its four-year-old predecessor, but its layout is too similar to ignore the previous drop, especially considering the Elevate has mimicked other famous styles of the Jordan 1. Much of the upper is inspired by Peter Moore’s decades-old design, with the most noticeable difference being a fashion-forward, exaggerated sole unit.
