Since its first sale in 1979, the Air Tailwind has gone through a lot of changes. Nike has updated the model seven times so far. And after bringing back the OG in 2018, the brand is finally looking to add to the line-up again with the new Air Max TW.
This interesting design looks both familiar and new
The Air Max TW, which has a much simpler name, combines and twists parts of previous Tailwind shoes. Some of the details are more modern than others. For example, the chevron-like design on the side seems loosely inspired by the Tailwind IV from 1999, but it also has hints of the Air Max 270 React ENG. Also, the shape of the toe cap and the embroidered Swoosh remind me of the Tailwind 96, and the bottom reminds me of the sole unit on the Tailwind III.
Conclusion
Nike’s Air Max Tailwind line is an encouraging sign to think about the future. The fact that this new shoe has an exceeds the required outsole gives us a hint that future models will have even more interesting lighting.
