Nike has placed a surgical emphasis on increasing their trademark athletes’ on-court offerings via a cost-effective lens since the early 2010s. Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo have all taken to making their individual lines more accessible, but Air Jordan’s senior-most athlete has stood alone on the Jumpman side of things with the Jordan Westbrook One Take 4.
The shoe is made fascinating by its bright color and contrast in materials
A semi-translucent grid layer rests atop the inner workings of the design, presenting hot pink elements alongside its jet-black lace loops and ensuing laces, staying true to Westbrook’s heritage of expression through namesake hues. The uppers’ remaining tooling indulges in a brilliant pink costume encompassing the mesh tongue construction and adjacent sock liner, contrasting the pristine white build of its TPU overlays and jagged midsole with pitch-dark pull tabs and tongue trims. Rare “Royal” embellishments provide a different ending along the tongue’s embroidery and a couple of Jumpman insignia positioned along the midfoot and heel, coordinating one last match between its pink and black hairy leather heel counter and its tread underfoot.
Air Jordan brand continues to evolve the One Take collection by keeping a generally strong color palette but scaling back the design of the timepieces in favor of a more casual feel. The end result demonstrates Jordan Westbrook’s versatility while also stretching the One Take series into more lifestyle terrain.
