In the last two years, Jordan Brand and the Swoosh have shown more than ever before how much they care about the Black community. Even though the Oregon-based company is working on a lot of projects, the Nike Dunk Low for Clark Atlanta University is one of the most interesting.
A comfy shoe with a noticeable and bright colorway
The recently found pair is part of a line of shoes that is dedicated to HBCUs. Since the end of the 19th century, Black thinkers, athletes, and professionals have come to and grown at Clark Atlanta University (CAU). The Panthers leave CAU with the message “FIND A WAY OR MAKE ONE” written on their Nike Dunk laces. The official colors of the research university are used on the sneaker’s upper and sole. Grey and black set the stage for bright red and school-specific details. The pair has a fierce panther logo on the tongue labels and on the outsole, which has a semi-translucent finish that shows off the school’s beloved mascot. The year “1988” is stitched into the heel of the Dunk as a reminder of when Atlanta University and Clark College merged to become the school it is today.
CAU is ready to take over the world. It has a long history and a strong start with the Nike Dunk. Just like the first academic semester started with Nike Dunks, this line of shoes is sure to be a hit.
